It's amazing what God is doing in my ministry. I've always had a sense of humor and love making people laugh. Now God has opened doors for me to share my humor with others along with all the Gospel songs that He allows me to write and sing. I always loved Minnie Pearl (Sarah Cannon) because she could make me laugh. When she was on stage at the Grand Ole Opry she made us forget our troubles for a while and just laugh. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine". And it's so true. We feel better when we've had a good laugh. The day after Sarah Cannon passed away, I was watching the reports on television and they were showing clips of interviews she had done in her life. In one interview she was asked what she wanted to be remembered for and she said, "I just hope I made somebody smile". The Lord gave me a song right then and there called "Thanks for the Smiles, Sarah". A couple of years ago, I was asked to do a "Minnie Pearl" act for a fund raiser for our local Community Theatre. I was very excited for the opportunity to perform as "Minnie". It gave me a chance to express the humor that God gave me. I followed the comedy routine by taking off Minnie's hat and singing the song I wrote in tribute to her. That evening I was asked by two people to perform the comedy and song on their shows. And from those shows I was asked to perform in more places and it has just grown from there. I always have the opportunity to sing my Gospel songs at these performances and it is easy to see that God has used my sense of Humor and the song that He gave me to remember Sarah Cannon to open doors for my music ministry. In the past I felt like my sense of humor was something that I needed to supress to be more "Godly", but God has surely shown me that He doesn't want to surpress it, He wants to use it! God is so good!
